「90年以上の伝統を誇る名門コース！新たな歴史を刻み続ける」
1929年10月、埼玉県初のゴルフコースとして東コースが開場しました。
東コースの設計は藤田 欽哉氏、赤星 四郎氏ですが、1930年にはゴルフコースの世界的名設計者であるチャールズ・H・アリソン氏の手によって改造されました。このとき作られた有名な「アリソンバンカー」は東10番ホールをはじめとする各ホールで、プレーヤーの安直なアプローチを受け入れてくれません。
1932年には西コースも開場し、日本で最初に36ホールを持つゴルフ場となりました。西コースは日本の名だたるコースの設計を手掛けた井上 誠一氏の設計となっています。
1957年、日本初のゴルフの国際大会「カナダカップ」が東コースを舞台に行われたことにより、国内外で有名なコースになりました。
カナダカップが開催されたのは、日本プロゴルフ協会(JPGA)が発足した直後で、日本選手の上位進出はあまり期待されていませんでした。しかし2日目には、中村 寅吉プロがサム・スニードやピーター・トムソンなど世界各国の強豪を逆転。最終日は2万人近いギャラリーがつめかけ、ゴルフが史上初めてテレビ中継されました。結果は、中村プロが個人優勝、中村・小野 光一組が見事に団体優勝を果たし、日本は一躍ゴルフブームになりました。
この一連の舞台となったのが、霞が関カンツリー倶楽部です。
その後も、日本オープンゴルフ選手権や日本女子オープン選手権、日本アマチュア選手権、日本ジュニアゴルフ選手権など数々のトーナメントの舞台となり、霞が関カンツリー倶楽部は多くのゴルファーの憧れの地となっています。2016年には、第一級の設計家であるトム・ファジオ氏とご子息のローガン・ファジオ氏の設計により、東コースの全面的な改造を実施しました。
