東コースは、豪快な打ち下ろしや、ドッグレッグ、ウォーターハザードなどの変化に富んだレイアウト。西コースは、距離が長く、ガードバンカーなどが待ちうけ、高い技量を要求されるホールが多く、アスリート志向の方でも満足できます。
東コースの18番はレイクウッドゴルフクラブの名物ホール。左右に池が配置されているため、ティショットに注意が必要。2打目は左にドッグレッグしているため池越えの可能性も。右のOBのプレッシャーに負けずに左に伸びるウォーターハザードに対処しなければならない手応え抜群のホールです。西コースの4番も名物ホールの1つ。季節によって風向きの変わる、美しい池越えのホールです。
コース設計はテッド・ロビンソン。通称「KING OF WATERSCAPE」。滝やクリーク、池などのウォーターハザードのデザインで世界的な名声を得ています。さらにレイクウッドゴルフクラブでは、要所要所に日本庭園的な優雅な美しさを感じ取ることができます。
クラブハウスは、外壁に富士山の溶岩を用いて、重厚な造りになっています。フロントは大理石を基調とした落ち着いた造りになっています。
